Join Our Team

Would you like to become a team member at Strong Life Care and play your own part in our success story?  You will need to have the enthusiasm, passion, drive and the heart to be 100% committed to making a positive difference to the lives of our residents each and every day.  If that is you, then we want to hear from you!

Volunteer

We fully recognise the energy and enthusiasm of our volunteers and value the contribution they make throughout our family of homes. Many of our volunteers find their vocation whilst with us and go on to work for a care home in a full-time or part-time capacity; a real testament to the positive experience they have had as a volunteer in Strong Life Care homes.

Our volunteers are equipped with a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience. They often have a generous quantity of time to offer and come from within the community which helps them connect with the residents or co-workers. We personally engage with each person volunteering their time to identify where they could best contribute and make a difference. Every volunteer receives training and support to ensure they have a great experience.

Some volunteers are giving their time as part of a work experience placement arranged through a school or as part of an award scheme, such as Duke of Edinburgh awards. Others may be on a professional development pathway and are seeking to contribute their time pro bono to enable them to acquire the requisite number of hours practice. However they come to us, our volunteers will share a genuine interest in the well-being of others and a belief that to get the most out of life, you need to contribute fully to society.

We offer a range of volunteering opportunities and look to match skills and talents with the requests of our residents such as:

  • Musical entertainment
  • Arts and Crafts activities
  • IT coaching, e.g. helping residents use the internet and computer software packages
  • Leading book clubs / reading groups
  • Befriending, e.g. taking the resident to the home’s café for a tea and simply having a chat
  • Gardening
  • Accompanying residents on outings, e.g. to theatre or shopping
  • Office tasks, e.g. filing, data input, reception, etc.

Apprenticeships

There’s never been a better time to become an Apprentice. An apprenticeship at Strong Life Care provides a chance to learn while working for a progressive employer, gaining valuable qualifications and experience in the care sector.

Strong Life Care has recognised an under-representation of younger people employed within the care sector as well as our own workforce. Therefore, we are working alongside the National Apprentice Service and training partners to proactively grow our apprentice programme and to offer a range of valuable opportunities.

We offer additional benefits to support the National Apprentice Wage Rate, such as:

  • Healthcare scheme
  • Travel subsistence
  • Training opportunities
  • Personal and professional development
  • Career progression

Our apprenticeship programme has been positively recognised across in local media and we are proud to take part in the annual National Apprentice Week.

Training & Development

We are committed to the training and development of our team members.  We want to ensure everyone working for us is able to grow and develop in their chosen field through the provision of a wide range of high quality training and development opportunities. We use a variety of approaches to achieve this such as eLearning, classroom based courses, conference and seminar attendance, plus qualifications and on-the-job training.

Whilst ensuring all team members undertake the required statutory and mandatory training vital for their role, we encourage team members to undertake more specialised training and development to enable them to deepen and extend their knowledge and enhance their skills, talents and capabilities.

We are keen to develop and promote our team members from within so identifying ‘top talent’ is a critical element to our future success. For those with leadership and management responsibilities in the company, from senior managers to senior carers, we have established a growing portfolio of training courses to enable them to expand their people management knowledge and skills and to develop their career further.

For team members seeking to acquire a professional or academic qualification to enhance their existing knowledge and skills Strong Life Care provides corporate sponsorship through its Supported Studies scheme.  This in-house scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to team members who wish to undertake further education, higher education, vocational or professional qualifications that support their personal or career aspirations.

Our promise is to exceed professional standards and support the aspirations of our team through continuous training and development.
